Are you a casual or a core skater? If you’re not sure which category you are in, then a casual skater is a person that goes skating one to 25 times every year. A core skater, on the other hand, is a person that goes skating 26 times – or even more often – throughout the year. There are, of course, people that enjoy taking their skateboards out every day, weather willing. Approximately 11 million people in the United States have self-reported how much they enjoy skateboarding on a regular basis.
You’ve likely noticed that there are both male and female skaters. A recent survey showed that given all skaters, 77.1% are male and 23.9% are female. When it comes to core skaters, however, 83.4% are male and 16.6% are female.
Does your neighborhood have a skate park? Currently, there are about 500 skateboarding parks throughout the United States. These parks can be a fun and exhilarating place to challenge yourself on a course, practice your moves, and meet other skaters. Skateboarding parks are also a great place to mentor younger skaters and learn a few tricks from more seasoned ones.
Whether skaters are male or female, casual or core, 77% prefer to buy their boards at small specialty shops. Since this portion of the skater population wants unique, rather than the proverbial name brands on the market, they’re much more inclined to check out boards with special features, such as electric skate boards.
While some skaters may prefer an electric powered skateboard to get around their neighborhood or town on sidewalks, streets, and alleyways, other skaters may want to take their skateboards off-road. The good news is that in addition to basic electric skate boards, there are also all terrain electric skateboards.
If you haven’t tried out an electric skate board yet, you’re in for a nice ride. Once you get a handle on safely maneuvering them at a speed with which you feel comfortable, you may decide to put your old boards in storage. Since there are different styles, there’s a good chance you’ll find one that suits you perfectly. Just imagine how much fun you’ll have riding around town, or off-road, on an electric skateboard.
