More than 40 billion pounds of chicken product was marketed, measured on a ready-to-cook basis. About 25,000 family chicken farmers have contracts with companies. Approximately 95% of broiler chickens are produced on these farms with the remaining 5% raised on company-owned farms.

If you’re eating fried chicken wings, the number of calories you’ll end up consuming depends on whether you eat the skin. A small fried chicken wing with no batter runs about 81 calories and a fried wing without skin is about 34 calories. It’s estimated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture that a skin-on chicken wing with batter that’s been fried runs about 159 calories.
Chicken wings have anywhere from 5-9 grams of protein depending on the size of the wing. Additionally, you can cut down on the amount of fat in chicken wings by taking off the outer skin layer.
- It makes you feel better: Chicken is packed with tryptophan, which leads to good feelings and is commonly associated with sleepiness. But chicken can also help you feel better.
